banking facilities through online mode such as internet/online banking, mobile banking, phone banking, the possibilities of double-dealing and cheating have also escalated. All the scheduled commercial banks, financial services companies, float periodic guidelines and advisories to safeguard customers’ interest and to aware them with the latest trickery approaches used by the fraudsters.
State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s biggest lender, said that the data of its customers are safe and that it is continuing to probe the systems for a potential breach of security after a Techcrunch report on data compromise at the bank.
"Basis our initial probe, we hereby confirm that SBI's data continue to remain secure and all profiles and financial records of our customers are safe,” a bank spokesperson said in a note. “The bank is continuing its investigation into all the components of the ecosystem to ascertain that there is no other impact."
Earlier, the foreign Web site claimed that the SBI server was located in a Mumbai data centre and was not protected by a password for an unknown period. This allowed anyone access to financial information, such as bank balances and recent transactions, on millions of SBI customers.
State Bank of India (SBI) enables its customers to customise its SMS alerts service through internet banking. In other words, subscribers of SBI's internet banking service can turn on/off and choose among different types of alerts through the bank's SMS alert service, according to a video tutorial shared by the bank on its website.
Among other options, SBI customers can switch on or off SMS alerts that notify the subscriber about occurrence of different events, such as debit card purchase, issuance of cheque book and money deposit in the account, according to the bank. Through its SMS alerts facility, SBI provides updates to its customers on different kinds of transactions taking place in the account.

If you are a State Bank of India (SBI) account holder and use its internet banking service, you have only two days keep your online account running. The country's largest bank said net-banking accounts will be blocked if the account holder does not link his/her mobile number with the account before
"As per Reserve Bank of India (RBI) advisory, it is mandatory to register your mobile number to avail internet banking services. Pregister your mobile number with Bank immediately through your Home branch / any Branch, if not already registered, failing which your access to Internet Banking Services may be stopped with effect
